Welcome aboard as New Bedford,
America’s largest commercial fishing port, hosts the 7th Working Waterfront Festival.
The FREE event takes place September 25th and 26th on the working piers and waterfront parks of the
historic Port of New Bedford. More than simply a celebration, the Working Waterfront Festival is a unique opportunity
for the public to get a firsthand look at the culture of fishing and for the commercial fishing community to tell its own
story. The event presents all that goes into bringing seafood from the ocean to the table in a way that is hands-on, educational
and fun.
What's more fun than attending the Working Waterfront Festival? Being a part of it!
Come join a crew of terrific volunteers that help to keep the Festival free and fun for everyone.
Volunteers generously work a 4 hour shift in exchange for a Festival T-shirt, beverage and the opportunity
to show their support for the local fishing industry.
Volunteers help with all aspects of the Festival:
- Set-Up
- Information Booth/Greeter
- Book sales
- Performance Loggers (keep a
written log of a performance)
- Runner/Pier crew (fill in wherever help is needed)
- Trash/Recycling collection
(not glamorous but essential!)
- Breakdown/Dismantling
Sound fun? It is!
